As a sustainable company, shiftX promotes charitable projects and assumes social responsibility. Just recently, the company supported the Gerard Asamoah Foundation with 20,000 euros on the occasion of the Gala der Herzen charity gala in Düsseldorf. The foundation has set itself the task of financing and performing vital operations on children and young people with heart disease. Well over 100 people have already been helped in this way.
Child mortality rates in the world’s poorest regions remain alarmingly high. Almost one in every hundred children born here have a heart defect and, in the absence of medical care, usually die at an early age. The Gerard Asamoah Foundation, founded in 2007, has declared war on this fate. In addition to transporting, treating and operating on children in Germany, the foundation has been organizing trips to Accra, Ghana, since November 2023 to provide medical assistance on site. The teams of doctors are accompanied by organizers, sponsors and multipliers. In the past two years alone, a total of 85 children has undergone open-heart surgery or minimally invasive procedures during four visits. The costs of 8,000 and 3,000 euros per procedure are financed exclusively through donations. Managing Director Jens Conrad is grateful that this year’s proceeds reached a record sum of 200,000 euros: ‘Especially in these difficult times, such a result cannot be taken for granted. We are therefore grateful to everyone who donated and is helping to save more lives in the future.’
Special thanks went to Bodo Knop, principal shareholder of shiftX and a committed supporter of the foundation for many years. Just a few days after the founder of shiftX returned from Accra with the foundation delegation, he received a special award at the Gala der Herzen: for his extraordinary commitment, he was named ‘Herzmensch 2024’ (Heart Person 2024), an honor he was unable to accept in person last year due to illness. In his acceptance speech, he appealed to the guests not to slacken in their commitment: ‘It is moving to see what we can achieve with the resources available and how grateful people are for the help. So please continue to support the work of the foundation. After all, every euro helps to save human lives.’
