Around 110 members, partners, and friends of our BCO Alliance witnessed this milestone at the BCO Conference 2024 in the historic Alte Kaffeebörse in Hamburg.
With inspiring presentations, engaging discussions, live online voting, and plenty of room for meaningful conversations, the conference was a resounding success!

Stefan Baumann
Stefan Baumann has been Head of Coop's internal Global Freight Forwarding division since November 2021, having previously held the position of Head of Business, Market and Product Development at Coop's own railCare rail freight company for almost four years. Born in Switzerland in 1970, he completed a transport and trade-related education at a young age and obtained his diploma in International Logistics from KV Zurich Business School in 1990. Before joining COOP, he worked for over 30 years for various international freight forwarding companies in Switzerland, Canada and the USA in the areas of air, sea, rail and truck transportation, warehousing and customs clearance - both in operations and sales. This broad-based logistics foundation helped him to design global supply chains for many BCOs in Europe and North America. Among other things, Stefan Baumann was involved in the commercial development of a dry seaport in Arizona and a (wet) seaport in Southern California and developed both business and supply chains for one of the largest exporters of recyclables from its European headquarters in Rotterdam.
Alexander Brinkmann
As a Product Manager at Lufthansa Industry Solutions, Alexander is dedicated integrating asset tracking into operational workflows to achieve seamless end-to-end tracking. With 5 years of experience in technology consulting, he has developed Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for customers across various industries. Through his degree in Industrial Engineering, his expertise lies in enhancing operational efficiency and implementing innovative technology solutions. Alexander is committed to bring the future of asset tracking to logistics.
Gunther Desmet
After his first professional positions, including at IKEA, Gunther Desmet joined the Colruyt Group in 1994, where the trained commercial engineer followed the classic path from store manager, toy buyer and head of purchasing at Dreamland to his current position as Chief Global Sourcing Support. In this role, he represents the Colruyt Group within the retail alliance AgeCore and the logistics alliance shiftX, manages parallel purchasing and sits on the Board of Directors of Colruyt Luxembourg. In addition, Gunther Desmet manages the trading offices he opened in Hong Kong (2012) and in Bangkok (2022).
Jonas Krumland
Jonas Krumland completed a dual study program in international business at Leschaco, a global freight forwarding company. There he gained extensive experience in the field of supply chain management: from a bird's eye view to the niche. From 2014 to 2016, Krumland was Key Account Manager and Business Development Manager. In 2016, he took over responsibility for Leschaco's global digitalization activities as Head of Global Business Transformation. In 2018, Jonas Krumland developed the vision behind the company Logward, which combines in-depth supply chain expertise with software know-how in a no-code platform. Since the foundation of Logward in April 2018, Krumland has been responsible as Chief Executive Officer.
Nils Kahn
Nils Kahn has worked within the container shipping industry for over three decades for prestigious brands including Contship Containerlines, Canada Maritime, TMM Lines, CP Ships and Hapag-Lloyd. Starting in commercial management in the early nineties, Nils progressed through export and sales management roles in the Northern Europe and Baltics regions. In 2010 he joined MSC Germany’s sales and marketing team and became Deputy Managing Director in 2014. He then moved up to the top position of MSC Germany and took over the role of the Managing Director in September 2019. In addition, he has been Deputy Chairman of the supervisory board of Port of Hamburg Marketing (since 2015), Managing Director of MEDLOG Germany GmbH (since 2021) and Cisalpina Tours Germany GmbH (since 2023). Nils Kahn was born in Hamburg and lives in the Hanseatic city. He is married and has three daughters.
Axel Mattern
Axel Mattern has been CEO of Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V. (HHM) for 15 years and is responsible for global location marketing for the Port of Hamburg and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region as well as along the transport chain. With around 300 member companies, HHM represents the global interests of the port. As a non-profit organization, the association operates on a non-competitive basis. Over the course of his long career, Axel Mattern has gained extensive professional experience in both shipping companies and port operations and is well versed in the seaport transport industry and hinterland transport organization. Before joining HHM, he was most recently sales manager at the Hamburg logistics company Wallmann & Co.
Jens Meier
Jens Meier (58), a computer scientist graduate, has been CEO of the Hamburg Port Authority since 2008. With over 25 years of experience in the port, logistics, finance and IT sectors, he is a proven expert and renowned speaker on future maritime issues and in the field of digitalization and cyber security. Jens Meier, elected IAPH Vice President for Europe in 2019, served in this capacity at the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) for a four-year tenure, during which he also assumed a temporary vice-presidency for Africa. He was elected IAPH President in summer 2023 and has been in office since November of the same year.
Gerhard Oswald
Gerhard Oswald has been Managing Director of GoMultimodal, the consultancy he founded, since 2013. Previously, he worked for over 30 years as a manager for TFG Transfracht, a subsidiary of DB Mobility Logistics AG, in national and European land container transport and seaport hinterland transport, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, product development, transport organization and purchasing, most recently as Managing Director. Prior to this, he worked in trade and industry for ten years.
Highlights of his professional career include the conception and implementation of the "CONNI" calculation and pricing system for inland container transport, the presidency of the container pool of the European railroads at Intercontainer/Interfrigo and the conception and market launch of the Albatros Express seaport hinterland network.
Antonios Rigalos
Antonios Rigalos joined the shiftX team on March 1, 2021, as Managing Director – responsible for growth. Antonios is today acting as Managing Partner. In his new role, the native of Hamburg with Greek roots is primarily responsible for shiftXs current core product Ocean and for the commercial activities. Antonios has gained his knowledge and experience in AP MOELLER Maersk, where he worked some 25 years in various commercial positions. Most recently as Global Key Client Director.
Anisa Rizvanolli
Dr.-Ing. Anisa Rizvanolli studied computer science engineering at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and completed her doctorate in the field of combinatorial optimization at the TUHH and Fraunhofer CML. She has headed the 'Maritime Scientific Computing and Optimization' team at Fraunhofer CML in Hamburg since 2019. Her work focuses on the design, development, adaptation and implementation of decision support systems for operations in shipping and port logistics. She is particularly interested in the development of suitable mathematical models and methods for solving challenging real problems in the maritime sector.
Chris Rogers
Prior to joining S&P Global, Chris spent fifteen years as a supply chain analyst and energy analyst at various information services, finance and logistics companies. Today, he leads the Supply Chain Research team at S&P Global Market Intelligence. He and his team focus on corporate supply chain decision making, the impact of government policy and the intersection between physical and financial supply chain risks. The research product utilizes S&P Global Market Intelligence's data and analysis in the areas of supply chain, international trade, economics, risk management and financial products. Chris Rogers is also responsible for coordinating supply chain coverage across the various S&P Global Insight Groups.
Stephan Schiller
Stephan Schiller is working in the logistics industry for more than 30 years and has become familiar with almost all dimensions of the industry and management in general. This includes general and specific management functions across all modes of transport, the establishment and expansion of companies and global partner networks and the development of crossborder e-commerce solutions. Before joining shiftX in January 2023, the Hamburg native worked for the Otto Group for more than ten years in executive positions, where he was responsible, among other things, for the development and positioning of Hermes as a supply chain logistics provider and the incorporation of the business model into the Otto Group’s supply chain management. As Managing Partner, his focus at shiftX is on the one hand the development of strategic and technological competencies and on the other hand driving growth in products and geography.
Malte Siegert
Malte Siegert has been involved in environmental and climate protection at NABU for more than 20 years and is today an expert in international port and shipping issues as well as national transport infrastructure policy and "green infrastructure development". After previous positions in the areas of press and public relations and marketing he was since 2003 in charge of all activities on behalf of NABU head office regarding the Fixed Link Fehmarnbelt, one of the largest European TEN-T projects connecting the German island of Fehmarn and Danish Island of Lolland in the Baltic Sea. In September 2012 he was appointed Head of Environmental Policy at the federal NABU office Hamburg. In this role, he was mainly responsible for numerous transport infrastructure projects including the procedure for the ninth deepening of the river Elbe, the highway projects A26 West and East (Hafenquerspange) and other infrastructure projects in the Hamburg metropolitan area. Together with the transport team of NABU head office Berlin he was involved in various international port and shipping projects dealing with air quality, climate issues, future fuels and drives for the shipping sector. Since September 2020 Malte Siegert has been Chairman of NABU Hamburg.
Jan Tiedemann
After completing his master’s degree in economic geography at the University of Hamburg and studies in urban planning with a focus on infrastructure at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) Jan Tiedemann initially worked as a management consultant and analyst until he joined BRS Group and Alphaliner in Paris, France, in 2007. In 2014, he returned to Germany to open the joint BRS Group and Alphaliner office in Hamburg as Team Lead for the international analyst team. Since the merger of Alphaliner and AXSMarine in 2021, he has been Vice President of Liner Strategy at AXSMarine, a multinational service and data provider for the maritime industry. In this role, he continues to develop AXSMarine’s product portfolio and is primarily responsible for Alphaliner.com, the world’s leading provider of data and market intelligence for the liner industry.
Dave van Diggele
Dave van Diggele is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the shipping and supply chain industry, providing sustainable business solutions for leading shippers. Since joining DCSA in May 2023, he has been pivotal in promoting standardized digitalization.
 With a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, Dave ensures cargo owners benefit from DCSA’s digital trade enhancements, efficient global supply chain management, and advanced tracking solutions. His commitment to data-driven innovation is driving the industry towards a more sustainable future. Ralf Yilmaz
Ralf Yilmaz joined suki.international GmbH on July 1991, as Employee in production planning. From 1997 onwards, he built up the company's quality assurance and testing laboratory and was responsible for the introduction of ISO 9001 certification. In the course of 2010, he took over responsibility for logistics at suki. As an authorised signatory of suki.international GmbH and Facido GmbH, he has been responsible for group logistics at sukigroup since 2020.
